Fire Protection
5. Where the ductwork for the air conditioning and exhaust systems is combustible ( and non- Factory Mutual approved) , fire protection as recommended in Data Sheet 7-78,Industrial Exhaust Systems should be provided. Sprinkler spacing within the ducts should be no more than 12 ft.
( 3.7 m) to prevent burn- through of the duct and smoke release into the clean room.

Section 2.0
1. Provide an automatically- actuated water or steam suppression system with emergency manual actuation for the direct- contact evaporator and any induced- draft fans upstream of the electrostatic precipitator. When combustible deposits are known to accumulate, provide a suppression system for all ducts between the direct contact evaporator inlet and the electrostatic precipitator.
4. Do not use reinforced plastic ducts, because they are susceptible to fire damage and damage from elevated temperatures during operational upset conditions. If unreinforced plastic must be used, provide protection as described in Data Sheet 7-78,Industrial Exhaust Systems, Reinforced Plastic and Thermal Plastic Ducts.
